Run for a Cause with CALICO!
Join Team CALICO AT THE OAKLAND RUNNING FESTIVAL
CALICO began taking part in the Oakland Running Festival in 2011, as one of the official charities for which particpants can run for a cause. Races include a 5K, relay, half marathon, full marathon, and a kids' fun run.
Team CALICO gets bigger every year, and runners help raise funds to provide vital services for abused children and their families. Runners receive a CALICO performance t-shirt and our sincere appreciation for any amount they are able to raise. Past participants have stated how much they enjoy the camaraderie of the pot luck the night before the race and meeting up with teammates the morning of to take pictures and get into the spirit. They also know they are doing something good for themselves while doing good for others.
If you are interested in joining Team CALICO in March, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. We will have you fill out a registration form and will register you. Don't forget to share this information with others you know who might be interested.
If running isn't your thing, you can still help! CALICO mans a water stop the day of the race, and we need volunteers to help hydrate the runners and cheer them on. CALICO is also seeking sponsors for the event. Email email@example.com for more information about volunteering or a sponsorship.
The sponsors, runners, water stop and cheer squad volunteers listed to the right helped us raise over $35,000 for the 2014 Oakland Running Festival. This year we hope to surpass that goal!
This month you can get the best California styles and help children who have experienced abuse by purchasing clothing or accessories from Never Elsewhere. The clothing company has generously chosen to recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Month by donating 10% of its April sales to CALICO’s Children’s Advocacy Centers of California program.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Everyone holds the power to be a hero, prevent child abuse and give children the healthy childhoods they deserve. Take a moment to learn what you can do to keep kids safe - and then share these tips with your friends and family.
Janice Le’s passion for justice and healing for abused children not only led her to take action and join the CALICO Board of Directors, it also inspired her to find her own voice.
Team CALICO runners run for many different reasons. For Christina Walburn running in the Oakland Running Festival is an extension of her years-long commitment to keeping children safe and healthy.
