Running for More: Ultra Marathon Runner Raises Funds and Awareness

Posted 6/15/17

Hi Everyone!

My name is Seth Davis and I have signed up to run a 100 kilometer race on August 12th. However, I'd like to see others benefit from this race. I think all too often we are so focused on achieving our own personal gains that it becomes easy to take for granted the things we have and circumstances we have not had to face.  I want to run and provide aid to those that have endured situations I personally have never had to face. The charity I hope to raise $1,000.00 for is The Child Abuse Listening, Interviewing, and Coordination Center (CALICO).

CALICO has a great reputation for helping and healing abused children in Alameda County. Before I ask for your support, I want you to know why CALICO is important.

CALICO is the only child advocacy center in the county.

Founded in 1997, CALICO achieves justice and healing for over 600 toddlers, children, adolescents, and adults with developmental disabilities each year.  CALICO provides support to children and adult victims of sexual abuse and exploitation, physical harm, neglect, drug endangerment, or severe violence witnessed in their home or community.  For these individuals, CALICO is often their first opportunity to tell someone who cares what they have experienced and begin the long recovery process.

I cannot even begin to imagine what these individuals have suffered, but I can at the very least empathize. But I'd like to do more than empathize, I want to help. Better yet, you can help. While the discussions that take place at CALICO concern difficult situations, the atmosphere is one of hope. Children walk away with a book, stuffed animal and blanket, feeling safe and protected. I'm asking for your support so we can help fight this together. Let’s make a real difference in the lives of abused children. This isn't the first time I've run for CALICO and I can assure you, it won't be the last. I truly believe they are making a difference.

These are problems that can be solved. I encourage you to imagine that world, believe in it… and dive in.

Please consider supporting me in my run for CALICO by making a donation here. It would mean so much to me and the families under their care. Please don’t just empathize when reading this - Be the difference you are wishing for. These are real people, and you have an opportunity to change someone’s life – all you have to do is click the button. If you are unable to donate at this time, you can still help! Please consider sharing this page on your social media platforms - the exposure alone could bring in possible supporters. My goal is to raise as much money as possible for CALICO and I hope you'll consider joining me.

Thank you for your support!

-Seth Davis
