CALICO Welcomes New Executive Director
Welcome to CALICO, Hillery!
Our new Executive Director, Hillery Gladden, joined CALICO in February. We'd like to take this opportunity to welcome and introduce Hillery to all of our supporters!
Hillery grew up in Edwall, a small town in the state of Washington, about an hour from Spokane. Edwall is such a small town that there isn't a grocery store or a gas station - there’s not even a stoplight! Being part of a small town community taught Hillery important lessons about everyone doing their part to look after each other. These are skills that she has continued to develop throughout her life and that will prove invaluable to CALICO.
Before coming to CALICO, Hillery has held positions that focused on poverty, the elderly, early childhood education and youth in foster care. She brings a sense of caring and fairness to everything that she does so that people who are in need of services are all respected and treated with dignity.
In her spare time, Hillery can be found exercising with her husband, going to musicals, traveling, trying new foods or watching her daughter's sporting events. An interesting fact is that Hillery loves cats and even has a calico cat! Serendipity.
Hillery is thrilled to have joined CALICO and believes that her work here will be the most important work she ever does. "Being part of an agency that is able to intervene at the point of crisis in a child's life, and help them and their families on the road to healing and justice ... what could be more fulfilling?"
Want to meet Hillery in person? Come to our free event on May 19th in San Francisco! You'll get to hear more about our work, meet Hillery, our staff and board, as well as enjoy good food and drinks. Learn more and register here.
The entire CALICO team extends Hillery a warm welcome - we're thrilled to have her on board.
